ECPAT - THE LINGUIST

 

I was in Adfest, Pattaya in 2013 when my friend and I curiously went into one of the Agogo bars there. (Yes, we did!) We ordered a beer and a young girl served us.

 

What surprised us was when she spoke to us in Mandarin! And in fact knows how to speak 5 other languages.

Instead of feeling happy that someone is multi-lingual, it was heartbreaking to hear her answer this when we asked why – to get more customers.

 

She was only 14.
